I got bored this evening and made this thing to the left using Paint Shop pro and the Busta Rhymes psd I got from this site. It's hot off the presses 5 minutes ago.
I thought about changing the title of this site to something else. Right now "Speak Now" is in the running, along with "Daily Pill". The second one wouldn't work because sporadic postings don't really count as daily. A good friend of mines has titled his blog the same. I've been using "Random Thoughts" since I created this account in 2001. Maybe it's time to pass on the RT torch and make an upgrade.
Now as far as the "life updates" that guy I mentioned in a past post that I'm getting to know, he's on the backburner for now. I believe he still has some hangups about a past relationship and in turn thinks of me as suspect, which bothers me plenty. Plus he's ignored my text messages and phone calls, also - not a good look. He's a nice guy but like everyone that's been in a awful relationship (myself included), you have to take time for yourself in order to heal and let that shit go. I was near completion of my healing process when I met this guy too, so I was definately open for something new. Well, its hard to get the point across to him to say that I'm a decent catch (not trying to be cocky or anything, just real), and that I can't wait around forever, which I am not doing. I'm getting to know another guy now that doesn't have any hangups so far. He's funny and he can sing too! I'm a sucker for singers. :)
Work is steady but could be full-time with benefits. I'm looking to get hired on with a communications company in the area that does sports and entertainment promotions. I'm looking to do some street team & promo work with my ppl DDB so this would be a launching pad to some PAID experience and some great connects in the city by working for this communications company. I'm meeting with the coordinator next week, wish me luck! I'm also taking a chance of applying for a higher level PT postition at the lib. This is only the second time in the 10 months that I've been there that I've applied for something internally. Having the "don't rock the boat" mentality since I've been hired there has only allowed me to find PT work that surrounds my base schedule. Clear Channel has also received my info too. Between these and the offer to work a few weeks again at the Cincinnati State Bookstore have been keeping me focused but worried. Worst case scenario would be that I don't receive any responses. I rather not think about that.
He was performing at Bogart's last night and my buddy Ben invited me. Really I was taking a risk with this one, cuz I heard of Van Hunt but was not familiar with his music. He was featured on MTV a few years ago when his song "Dust" came out. Really they need to give him more exposure, he can put on a great live show! It's hard for me to classify his style but its rock mixed with r&b, and soul. It just good live music. It's a good escape from the repeats on the radio, although they're infectiously catchy. infectiously, oooh a big word!
My groupie acting ass was hoopin and hollering the whole time and by buddy Ben couldn't stop dancing. But then again, he's a dancer. We had a good time and to top it off Van Hunt was signing autographs and taking pics after the set. That's how I got this one (thank you B!) and my buddy got his poster signed. Plus when I got my ticket signed, of course I had to spell out my name to him. And he pronounced it correctly on the first try! That made my night! I couldn't stop mentioning it to Ben the rest of the time afterwards. We were so hyped up for it to be a rainy night, it was practically wrong.
All I need to do now is go and cop his first album and catch up. His second one is out now too called "On the Jungle Floor". Go and take a listen to something new! Lil' Jon, T.I. and Bubba Sparxxx will be on the radio (again) tomorrow.
This shameless Van Hunt plug has been brought to you by yours truly at RT :)
Edit: Did I mention he's from Ohio??? It's true!
I had time to keep up with this blog. That was long ago, like when I began this thing (2001!) Wow, all those rants about nothing (not really). I've actually been having some somethings brewing lately which has kept me away from posting until now, but it's good, or will be. Here's the shortlist, in random order.
1. I'm on myspace now. Yeah, I mentioned that in the other post. I guess its not addicted yet, but I have sent out a few friend requests today, some to actual real life friends, wow! I'm just trying to network with artists on the flipside of things. My dream is to promote music. One of these days that's gonna be a reality, and I'll blog about that too.
2. I'm dating...I guess. While I'm attempting to keep him anon for now, and not to really name and claim much of anything these days, since relationships can be so fickle, its safe to say that I'm dating again. I'll say this much about the guy: he's 25, a childhood friend of one of my HS friends, I met him in the club (of all places to meet a decent person), and has been quite a gentleman thus far since I've been getting to know him. We've been out twice already, and planning to hang out this Wednesday. Neither one of us is trying to jump into anything, but hanging with him has been quite - refreshing. Usually "refreshing" is not a word that I would use about a guy...this is new. I think I'm being so candid that I'm scaring myself, I'll just stop here with all that.
3. I thought I had a third event to list, but I forgot it. It'll come to me later. :)
I'm just now jumping on the bandwagon:
Find me on MySpace!
Really, I'm on there for two reasons:
1. Promoting my friends: DDB (they're on soundclick too) & Kesha B
2. Promoting my marketing services
Gotta get exposure somehow. It seems like half the world is on there, so why not?! But I'm still lingering around here blogging here and there when I'm indoors or hiding from people. :)
